Publication Ethics

Environmental Insight Journal: Journal of Environmental Science and Engineering is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and integrity. We adhere to ethical guidelines to ensure transparency, accountability, and fairness throughout the publishing process. This section outlines the ethical responsibilities of the authors, reviewers, and editors involved in the publication of this journal.

Ethical Responsibilities of Authors

  • Originality: Authors must submit original works that have not been previously published and are not currently under consideration for publication elsewhere. All sources utilized in the research must be appropriately cited and referenced.

  • Plagiarism: Any form of plagiarism, including verbatim copying or paraphrasing the work of others without proper attribution, is strictly prohibited. Manuscripts found to contain plagiarized material will be rejected.

  • Data Integrity: Authors must ensure the accuracy and honesty of the data presented in their manuscripts. Data fabrication, falsification, or manipulation is fundamentally unacceptable.

  • Conflicts of Interest: Authors must disclose any financial or non-financial conflicts of interest that could potentially bias the results or interpretation of their research.

  • Human and Animal Rights: Research involving human subjects or animal testing must comply with established ethical standards. Authors are required to obtain appropriate institutional review board (IRB) or ethical committee approval prior to manuscript submission.

  • Authorship: All individuals who have made substantial contributions to the research design, execution, or manuscript preparation must be listed as co-authors. The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all co-authors have reviewed and approved the final version of the manuscript prior to submission.

Ethical Responsibilities of Reviewers

  • Confidentiality: Reviewers must treat all submitted manuscripts as confidential documents and must not share, discuss, or disclose their contents to third parties without prior authorization.

  • Objectivity: Peer reviews must be conducted objectively based on the scientific merit of the manuscript. Reviewers should avoid personal criticism and ensure their feedback is constructive, evidence-based, and impartial.

  • Conflicts of Interest: Reviewers must declare any potential conflicts of interest that could compromise their impartiality. Should a conflict arise, the reviewer must decline the invitation to review.

  • Timeliness: Reviewers are expected to provide timely evaluations to facilitate the prompt processing of accepted manuscripts. If a reviewer is unable to meet the stipulated deadline, they must notify the editorial team promptly and recuse themselves from the review process.

  • Academic Integrity: Reviewers must execute their evaluations professionally based on their subject matter expertise and strictly abstain from utilizing generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to perform peer reviews.

Ethical Responsibilities of Editors

  • Fairness and Impartiality: Editors are responsible for making editorial decisions solely based on the manuscript's scientific merit, irrespective of the authors' race, gender, nationality, or institutional affiliation.

  • Transparency: Editors must maintain transparency across the entire publishing process, particularly regarding peer review protocols. They are obliged to resolve conflicts between authors and reviewers in a fair and judicious manner.

  • Confidentiality: Editors must preserve the strict confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and associated communications. Unreleased manuscript details must not be disclosed to anyone outside the core editorial team without explicit consent.
